Wayne Merriman Award

Wayne Merriman was quite simply the Auto Restorer's Restorer.  His depth of knowledge and willingness to share his skills were reknowned.  A long time Packard aficionado and Mid-America Packards member, Wayne embodied the quintessential American drive to do-it-yourself, and to do it right.  His knowledge of multicylinder automobiles, be they Packard Twelves and Twin-Sixes, or the Cadillac 16, was legendary.  He personally knew many of the greats, with names like Dietrich and Darrin, yet he was as approachable as your neighborhood garage mechanic.

Unfortunately he was mortal like all of us, and left this world in 1989.  In his memory, and to honor those who, like Wayne, have developed the skill and desire to restore a Packard with their own two hands, Mid-America Packards founded the Wayne Merriman Award.  This Award is presented under the auspices of Packard Automobile Classics, and is awarded to the person who most exemplifies the spirit of Wayne Merriman by restoring and presenting a Packard of any vintage.  This Award is competed for and given during the National Meet, and can be applied for by following the attached rules set forth by Mid-America Packards.

To the right  is a list of all the Merriman Trophy recipients to date.  They are all to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication.
